Hanging Out with my Girlies

Hi All! Kevin is back in the full swing of things with school and volleyball so I have just been chilling at home with my two favorite girls. I can't say it enough how thankful we are for them! They are such good babies and rarely cry. Amelia is really good at letting out one cry and then kind of looking around...amazed that the noise came from her. They are both sleeping great at night too. They are usually in bed around 10 and wake up around 3. Sometimes we can give them their pacifiers and stretch it out another hour until almost 4. Then once they go back to bed, they sleep until around 7, which we can sometimes stretch to 8. Since we feed them at the same time, I sometimes wonder how long the non-hungry one would have gone if her sister had not woken her up.   :)

All three of us girls have had a cold since the end of last week. Who gets sick during the summer?!? Not fun to be sick yourself and take care of two sick infants. But luckily, they are good babies, have not been fussy, and even tolerate me sucking the green grossness out of their noses...sorry if that is TMI! :) I did take them in last week Thursday because they were running a temp. Blood work showed that they have a viral infection, rather than bacterial, so the doctor said it just has to run its course.

Other things that are new with the girls is that they are both getting so good at holding up their heads, are awake a lot more during the day, and are starting to smile.

Here are some newer pictures of the girls. Enjoy!
These first couple ideas are courtesy of Pinterest...

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:14 &16

Amelia smiling after filling her tummy!
Sleepy Quinn
Quinn was my sleepy model for the photo shoot.
Thanks for the giraffe hat Auntie Kristen. Can't wait til winter so I can wear it!

Sleepy babies cuddling in their crib.

Both girls have very blue eyes. Amelia had this blue shirt on which made them look even bluer!
All dressed up for church...not the best picture as the girls were starving and not excited about waiting to take a picture.
My cuties with their big pink bows....its next to impossible to get them both to look at the camera, have their eyes open, etc. at the same time.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

1 Month Photo Shoot

Last week the girls had their one month birthday. What better way to celebrate than with a photo shoot. It was pretty tricky to get both girls to be awake, facing the same direction, etc., at the same time but we (I) had fun anyway. One of my friends had given me these neat monthly stickers that you put on a onesie each month. I am going to take a picture each month and see how much they have grown.

We found these neat old suitcases in my grandparents house, so I thought I would include them in the photo shoot as well. Afterall, what's a good photo shoot without some props?!?

Here is Quinn wide awake:

Here is Amelia...sleepy and silly:

And here are both of them:

And some shots from the floor:

This is our double stroller...we really like it so far! The last several days have not been near as hot as the last month has been so we have actually gotten to get out and go for some walks.

Kevin started volleyball this week so I am home with the girls on my own. We knew it had to happen eventually, but are pretty bummed that our month at home together is over. We just keep reminding ourselves that this would not normally be the case if the girls would have been born during the school year so we are very blessed for the time that we have had.
The girls continue to do well with feedings and get up once or twice at night...and of course I will continue to be lazy on the couch with the girls after the morning feeding while I can. :) :)

4 Weeks Old!

Today the girls are 4 weeks old already! Next week Tuesday, August 7, will be their official One Month Birthday. Time is going so fast. Actually, every day goes fast even though we don't do a whole lot other than feed, change, and cuddle with the girls.

The girls had an appointment this week for a weight check and they are doing great! Amelia is up to 7 pounds 13 ounces and Quinn is 7 pounds 6 ounces. We can really tell that their faces, legs, and arms are starting to fill out. They are still great eaters and usually eat about 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours. It's pretty funny when they get hungry because they really start to chomp on their pacifiers, hands, eachother, anything they can. And then when they get the first sips from their bottle it's like they haven't eaten in days. I have also attempted to feed them both at the same time by myself in preparation for when Kevin goes back to work. The tricky part is burping one while continuing to feed the other, but I am sure I'll get the hang of it.

They are still doing really well at night too. We try to keep them well fed and do a lot of tummy time to stay awake during the evening so that by the time they eat for the last time before bed they are tired out and full. A couple times lately Quinn will be the first to wake up and when we take her out of the crib, even if Amelia is out cold, she usually wakes up within a couple minutes of taking Quinn out. She must sense that Quinn isnt there anymore...kinda cool.

This past week Kevin's parents have been here visiting which has been fun. It's nice to have an extra set of hands to feed the girls, bake cookies :), and give us a break for a quick nap!

And of course the fun part, pictures:

Our two princesses...

Ready to go to the doctor:

Trying out the Boppy pillows for the first time. Amelia loved it, but Quinn wasn't quite sure about it. Quinn is just a tad smaller so she didn't fit quite as well. This is how I fed them both at the same time though:

Quinn resting on a resting Amelia :)

For those of you who don't know, I have a secret obsession with weather. I would much rather be out taking pictures of a storm than hiding inside. Well, last night we FINALLY got some rain and I decided to take some pictures from our deck as the storm rolled in.

Sharing a Boppy...must be getting close to feeding time as Amelia is trying to eat Quinn's face:

Our happy babes:

We also wanted to say thank you to everyone who has stopped over for a visit, brought gifts or meals, or supported us through prayer. We feel very blessed!

Have a great weekend!
